Pride

"Johnathan Edwards called pride 'the worst viper that is in the heart' and 'the greatest disturber in the soul's peace and sweet communion with Christ'; he ranked pride as the most difficult sin to root out, and 'the most hidden, secret and deceitful of all lusts'" (Humility: True Greatness, C.J. Mahaney, p 34). What does this quote make you think?

I think it just makes me think about how much pride seeps into every sin area and is the main reason for spiritual struggle all together. If we didn't have pride, we would be automatically willing to submit to God in every area of life.

Question to go with that - is God giving us free will really Him giving us the option of pride? Because if you think about it, it's by pride that some people justify free will as being able to do what we want before we die..

Hmmm...

Bethany,

That's a VERY interesting question. Try to get some other people's thoughts on that. Maybe they can write their comments too. I'll think about it more and give you my thoughts later....

What do you mean by "free will?"
